With little over a month left for the biggest metal festival in the world, the Wacken Open Air, here, in Metal Topics, are looking forward to be there and cover what it would be our second time since 2014 at the mecca of metal. As it is already known, this annual event takes place somewhere between July and August. It is visited by over 80 thousand people and the tickets for this festival are sold a year before and usually takes only hours to be sold out.
This year we will have a total of 143 bands. The special highlights goes to 2 historical bands from the 70s: Foreigner and Blue Oyster Cult, which are some interesting additions to the already variety of groups.
From these 143 bands, the ones we’re expecting to see the most are (with no particular order) :

 Iron Maiden
 Saxon
 Foreigner
 Whitesnake
 Blue Oyser Cult
 Vader
 Immolation
 Michael Monroe
 Eluveitie
 Tarja
 Bullet for my Valentine
 Blind Guardian
 Testament
 Orden Ogan
 Hansen & Friends
 Unisonic
 Orphaned Land
 Dragonforce
 Therion
 Arch Enemy
 Symphony X
 Metal Church
 Steel Panther
 Twisted Sister
 Elvenking

Without a doubt, Iron Maiden will be the most important band of the festival with it’s awesome last work “The Book of Souls”. Maiden is one of these type of bands that never dissapoints you. They have this energy between the group and the public that makes every show unique, and what best place to do that, than Wacken.
Another band we’re expecting to see this year is Hansen & Friends, as we mention in an earlier post Kai Hansen will start as a solo band with an exclusive presentation here and with an special guest, so hopefully we will get to see him with Michael Kiske who will also be playing with Unisonic in the same set a few hours later, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Now we leave you here some video reviews we made of Wacken 2014:
